- Kylie refused to confirm or deny rumours that she and rapper Travis Scott were expecting
- According to sources Kylie wanted to keep her pregnancy private while trying to lead a normal life
Kylie Jenner has given birth to a baby girl after months of fevered speculation she was pregnant with her first child.
“I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions,” she told fans in a statement.
“Pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering, and life changing experience I’ve had in my entire life and I’m actually going to miss it,” 20-year-old Kylie added.
The new mum then shared a touching video of highlights from her pregnancy including pictures the moment she tells boyfriend Travis Scott she’s pregnant, her baby scans and even the birth.
After appearing on family reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians for the last ten years, Kylie revealed this was one journey she wanted to keep private.
The emotional video entitled ‘To Our Daughter’ was uploaded to YouTube following the announcement.
At the end of the documentary, a first look at Kylie’s as yet unnamed baby is revealed as viewers were shown a glimpse of her arm and a leg.
In one of the closest-guarded celebrity secrets, Kylie refused to confirm or deny the news in the face of rumours she and boyfriend Travis were expecting.
The 20-year-old reality star met rapper Travis at Coachella in April 2017, and had a whirlwind romance with him in the wake of her split from Tyga.
And, five months later, the rumour mill started churning out reports from sources close to the couple that they were set to become parents.
Kylie – a Snapchat fanatic and Instagram devotee – virtually quit social media altogether, appearing just from the waist up in her rare videos to fans, which did nothing to stop people wondering what she was trying to hide.
And she almost gave the game away in mid-October when fans thought they spotted the top of her baby bump as she filmed herself wearing a grey cropped sports top and dancing around to music.
As the camera panned out, Kylie’s enormous boobs and her slightly less defined waistline could just about be glimpsed, prompting yet more speculation she was expecting.
But neither she nor Kris Jenner, or her older sisters Kendall Jenner, Kim, Khloe or Kourtney Kardashian ever came clean.
The constant lack of noise around her pregnancy became a running joke, even among the rich and famous.
Kylie also raised eyebrows in December when she went missing from the Kardashians’ Christmas card, which featured Khloe and her bump and the rest of the klan – aside from camera-shy Rob, of course.
Then, in mid-January, Twitter went into overdrive when a witness at Cedars-Sinai hospital in LA texted a friend hinting they’d seen her.
The chain of messages was leaked online – and still there was no announcement.
But sources said there was a good reason why the youngest of the Kardashians wanted to keep her baby news to herself.
“Her not being out is strictly personal preference. She wants to keep this one aspect of her life private,” revealed one insider.
“She spent her adolescent life on television and has been famous for over 10 years now. If this is the first thing she wants to keep to herself, she should be allowed that,” they added.
Kylie previously spoke about her struggle to deal with the pressures of fame during her own reality TV show Life Of Kylie.
Kylie admitted it was “hard to feel normal” with cameras following her around for half of her life, and millions of followers addicted to watching her every move.
“There is two sides of me. There’s an image I feel constantly pressured to keep up with,” she confessed. It’s hard to feel normal. I want to always feel normal. That’s the goal in my life.”
